When I double click on a wmv file to open media player to play the video. It only have sound. Is there any function I forgot to turn on? Thanks.

can't play video by Media Player 11
Hmm... sounds like you might need codecs installing. I had some troubles with videos, mainly .wmv and .avi files, so I downloaded and installed DivX - everything works great since that.

Because the codecs are used to decode video and play on pc , the sound is decoded by windows.Like a mp3....you don't need codecs to play music

There are video codecs and audio codecs. Windows needs both.

And he needs DivX video codecs - remember Windows XP couldn't play certain file types without a third party DVD codec pack :o)

As mentioned before, you'll probably need additional video codecs. I'd recommend the K-Lite Mega Codec Pack, which will satisfy every Video/Audio-Codec need :-) www.codecguide.com
There's also a WindowsMedia-CodecPack for those who don't have WMP installed (eg. for the Windows N edition) :-)
